Bikeability training

Bikeability equips cyclists with the skills, confidence and awareness to become safe road users.

Who's it for?

Bikeability is for both children and adults. Cyclists can learn basic skills, improve their confidence or learn advanced skills for more complex roads. Children's courses cost £8 (free to those children eligible for school meals) and £30 for adults.

What's involved?

Bikeability has three levels:

  • Level 1- Controlling the bike in a traffic free area.
  • Level 2- Making a journey on quieter roads with simple junctions.
  • Level 3- Making a journey on busier roads, riding through more complex junction roundabouts, traffic lights and using multi lanes.

Where and when?

Courses are run at times convenient to you, they can take place from your home or place of work and along familiar routes.

Do I need my own bike?

Ideally yes; although borrowing a bike might be suitable so long as it fits the rider.

Bikeability in Gloucestershire is run by the Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership. Contact roadsafety@gloucestershire.gov.uk for more information.
